CYCLADES GATE

Kea, an authentic island preserved from mass tourism

KEA sometimes also called TZIA by the Greeks  is located only 1 hour from the mainland, which makes it a popular destination for Athenians.

Unlike other islands of the Cyclades, the island is quiet and attracts little or no international tourists, in particular because of the lack of connection with the port of Piraeus (boats leave from the port of Lavrio).

Sea and mountains rub shoulders there and it will surprise you with its wild and natural beauty, its coves with crystal clear waters, its sandy beaches and its many marked hiking trails .

Divided into two valleys planted with olive trees, vines, oaks, almond trees, fruit trees and cypresses, Kea has lush vegetation that sets it apart from other Cycladic islands:  its endemic oak trees are recognized and protected by the European Union's Natura 2000 environmental conservation label.

The contrast between the green north of the island and the south where the landscapes are more arid is striking. Mount Profitis Ilias culminates at 568 m.
